2013 Aluvión Malbec Reserva "The Emmeline" - Full Case
We named this wine after our daughter, who was born the same year.
Grown in Argentina's premium wine growing region, the Valle de Uco, this is a limited release super-premium single vineyard wine, with just 1,800 bottles (1,350 litres) produced.
2013 has been the best vintage to date. The season experienced cooler temperatures and higher than average cloudy and rainy days. Through careful vineyard management and the good fortune of two weeks of beautiful warm days prior to harvest, the berries achieved amazing velvety tannins, better natural acidity, and excellent fruit expression.
Harvest date: 17 March 2013
Cold maceration: 6 days
Fermentation: 4 days
Oak: 20 months. 50% new, 50% second use French medium toast barrels.
This is an intense and elegant malbec that is a bright violet colour. Its aroma expresses red fruits like plums and cherries, balanced with the spicy notes from 20 months in oak. The wine is round on the palate, with soft tannins and delicate mineral notes, giving it great character and remarkable structure.
This wine is ready to drink now and will cellar through to 2023.
