New Wines March 18 2019

We're expanding the varietals we're making and selling, and we're excited to announce that we have new wines available in both Australia and the USA.

First up, our 2013 Malbec Reserva "The Emmeline" is  now available. For those that find most Malbecs too robust then this one is a lighter, smoother style and will be right up your alley. We're getting great feedback from those that have already tried it. This is available in both Australia and the US.

Our 2013 Malbec Reserva, with a similar drinking style is also available in the US.

For the first time ever, we've made a Rose and we're really excited about it! It's available in both Australia and the US. We've had a few bottles ourselves on some warm days in Australia and it's delicious!!

We've also ventured into a white wine for the first time, with a 2017 Sauvignon Blanc now available in the USA.

So much deliciousness! To make it easier for you, we've also curated some special packs with a variety of wines available in various sizes of three, six and 12 bottles.

Please share your feedback once you've tried these new wines!

Back to the land of tango and wine October 23 2017

We were fortunate to visit our vineyard recently as part of the Vines of Mendoza owners conference. It was so wonderful to connect with other owners, the wine making team, spend time at our vineyard, and just simply enjoy Argentina. There's so much to love about this beautiful part of the world.

One of the highlights was seeing our kids touch and feel the soil, spend time with the vines, and visit the wine making facilities and create their own connection with the vineyard.

We of course spent time tasting and blending our wines. I always find this process so fascinating, trying to predict how a wine might change over the next few years and what other varietals may be needed to help it reach its full potential.

There's no better way to explore ours and the adjoining vineyards than by horseback. And to make the experience even more genuine a local gaucho led the way.

Not only is the wine incredible, for us the food in Argentina is always a highlight. I have so many photos of food!! Fresh, simple, often wood fired, and beautifully presented, I really should just do a blog post on food! And nothing says Argentina like their famous empanadas.

It wasn't all play. We did get our hands dirty and plant some new vines too.

Other times, it was necessary to just sit back with a glass of wine and admire the spectacular view.

Farewell Argentina, we'll be back again soon.

Aluvión and Firedoor a match made in heaven December 08 2016

Firedoor Restaurant

Our 2012 Aluvión Malbec Reserva has been featured on Sydney's Firedoor wine list throughout much of 2016.

Firedoor reminds us of some of the best food and cooking techniques in Argentina, so it was naturally a great fit for our wine. Firedoor's menu is powered by wood fire - 11 different types of wood to be exact. Australian Gourmet Traveller dubs Firedoor's food "a new kind of delicious born from the oldest of cooking traditions" and they have received a coveted chef's hat from both the 2016 and 2017 Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide.

As for the wine list, Australian Gourmet Traveller says, "they certainly know what they're pouring."

Firedoor's Sommelier, Miki, says the 2012 Aluvion Malbec Reserva is "rich, smooth and round, drinks easily and accommodates both men and women, and is a bargain for the price."

We have to say we agree with him.

Beautiful tapas and wines on Blues Point Road...and they carry Aluvión Malbec too! July 20 2015

Delicado Food and Wines in McMahon's Point, Sydney is one of those special places that makes you feel as though you've been transported to another part of the world. Ben Moechtar's Spanish tapas restaurant, deli and bottle shop could easily be in Barcelona...or Buenos Aires for that matter. First, the relaxed, social environment and the food are fantastic. And as one of the most highly qualified and knowledgeable sommeliers in Australia, Ben has amassed an eclectic collection of wines from Spain, as well as other parts of the world. This has been a favourite place for Bob and me for many years and Ben was naturally one of the first people we approached with our Malbec. We were thrilled - and a little humbled - when he said he liked it and wanted to include it on his wine menu. Now I'm always happy to call Delicado because no matter who answers the phone they have only wonderful things to say about our wine! :)

Our Aluvión Malbec Reserve 2010 is available in Delicado's restaurant by the glass or the bottle, as well as for purchase through the bottle shop.  My recommendation is you savour a glass while you sit at one of the tables on the footpath and imagine you are in Spain or Argentina.

The Daily Telegraph says "it's worth it" July 20 2015

Chuffed with our first media coverage from The Daily Telegraph on Saturday 18 July.  Thanks to John Lehmann, Editor at Large.  You heard the man, "it's well worth it...".

Aluvión now available at Farmhouse Kings Cross July 13 2015

One of our newest restaurant partners is the delectable Farmhouse in Kings Cross. The food here is home-style and the set menu changes regularly while the atmosphere on the communal 22-person table is convivial - a celebration of good food, wine and friends.  It reminds me of many meals in Argentina! I just knew our wine belonged here and when I approached Mike and Andy they bought some bottles on the spot. Their wholesome approach has been recognised and rewarded. They were bestowed with a coveted Chef's Hat by the 2015 SMH Good Food Guide and won Best Restaurant Design in the 2015 Eat Drink Design Awards.  Salud to many great meals here in the future.

Check out our bling! July 05 2015

I'm partial to shiny things and I particularly like our new silver medal from the San Francisco International Wine Competition for our 2010 Malbec Reserve.  26 countries, 29 states with a total of 4,902 entries compete in America's largest international wine competition. Feeling vindicated that we have created something good here :)

Chiswick's Garden Menu Ideal Match for Aluvion Wine June 29 2015

For the past several months, we have been enjoying a great partnership with CHISWICK, Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan's beautiful dining venue in Woollahra, Sydney. The emphasis at CHISWICK is on where the food has come from and how it is grown. They have an amazing kitchen garden where much of their produce comes from and when we were there recently we enjoyed slow cooked lamb sourced from the Moran family farm. It's a perfect match for a wine like ours which is produced as naturally as possible with deep respect for the earth, native vegetation, water sources and the produce.

We are also honoured to be included.  The CHISWICK wine list received the 2013 and 2014 National Award for 'Best Small List' at Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards.

Do yourself a favour and visit Chiswick soon.

Aluvión launches in the USA November 26 2014

Well, it's about time I hear you say.  Yes, we've officially launched our wine for sale in the USA and just in time for the holidays.  The Aluvion Malbec 2010 Reserve is a well-balanced, full bodied wine with rich, concentrated flavor and character that would make it an excellent wine to showcase as part of your festivities.

Here's how it works:

  • Purchase a single bottle for $35.
  • 6 bottles for $33 per bottle ($198 half case, save $12). Enter promo code FRIENDSHALF at checkout.

From bush to bottle: launching soon October 17 2014 3 Comments

It's a little surreal, we're about to launch our first baby.  In 2006, four of us ventured down to the land of Evita to see tango, football, gauchos, and experience those legendary Argentine steaks.  Ed and Catherine were engaged at the time and Bob and I were only on our sixth date!  While we were there, we visited the wine region around Mendoza, fell in love with the incredible food and wine, and met the Vines of Mendoza team, who were in the very early days of their wine and business venture in the Valle du Uco.  We became one of the earliest Private Vineyard Estate Owners, and now eight years and four children between us later, our first wine is about to be launched.

On our first visit, the road from Mendoza out to the vineyard was rough and the land itself was nothing more than scrub.  We rode around on horseback and tried to imagine vines growing there.  There was something magical about the place, enjoying an asado (Argentine BBQ) in the Argentinean bush, with the majestic Andes as our backdrop and the sounds of the crystal clear water flowing nearby.  We just knew it would produce something special.  Though it's still hard to believe how things have transformed; today the land is established vines as far as the eye can see, with a world class resort and wine making facilities a stone's throw from our own vineyard.

It's taken us a while to get to this point.  Life sometimes gets in the way.  And we wanted to have the best quality wine.  So here we are, a labour of love and a product of which we are extremely proud and excited to launch very soon.
